The first seminar, Sports and Goodness in Life will take place from 9:30-11:15 am, while the second seminar, Sports and Success in Life, is scheduled for 2:00-3:45 pm. Both seminars will take place in the Arrillaga Family Sports Center.

Here is a brief description of the two seminars:

Seminar #1 - Sport and Goodness in Life
Does participation in competitive sports encourage the living of an ethical life? If one learns to bend the rules to win a game, does that lead to bending the rules in business and other aspects of life? How can the sports experience be structured so it contributes optimally to the development of "good citizens"? Does the win-at-all cost culture of professional sports make it more difficult for youth athletes to take away the "right" lessons from competing in sports?

The panelists include Mark Madsen, Teyo Johnson, Logan Tom, Fr. Patrick LaBelle (Director of Campus Ministry, Stanford) and Dan Clendenin (former InterVarsity Faculty Fellowship, Stanford).

Seminar #2 - Sport and Success in Life
Does involvement in sports lead automatically to success in life? And does one have to be successful in sports or is it enough to have participated? What in a sports experience makes for a successful life? Do parents pushing their children to be successful in sports help or hinder? What does a coach need to do to be a positive influence beyond excelling on the playing field?

The panelists include Troy Walters, Bill Walsh, Gene Washington, former Cardinal and NFL player and currently the Director of Operations for the NFL, Prof. Bill Barnett, Stanford Graduate School of Business, Dr. Jeffrey Wildfogel, Consulting Professor of Psychology, and Mollie Galloway, Ph.D., Research Associate at the Center on Adolscence at Stanford.

Panel Discussion with Former Student-Athletes
