Getting to Know Mandy Delgado
If you could do any sport other than gymnastics what would it be?If I could do any sport besides gymnastics, it would probably be soccer. I used to play soccer when I was younger because I wanted to be just like my older sister. I couldn't go to the soccer practices because I was doing gymnastics in the afternoons, so I just played in the games on Saturday mornings, which was the best part. I wasn't very good, but I loved getting the little snacks at the end of the games.

What is your favorite sports movie? There are many great sports movies I could watch over and over again- like: A League of Their Own, Rocky, Varsity Blues, Love and Basketball- but none of them can compete with the dominance of Happy Gilmore, one of my all-time favorites.

Besides gymnastics what is your favorite Stanford sport to watch? From swimming to basketball, volleyball to gymnastics, I could go on and on. There are so many incredible sports teams at Stanford that there is no way I could choose a favorite.

What is your favorite thing about Stanford athletics? My favorite thing about Stanford athletics is the wonderful opportunities it provides to student athletes- it is the whole package. The drive for excellence happens in the gym as well as in the classroom. I am fortunate to be receiving a great education, as well as competing for the top athletic program in the country.

What is your favorite thing about the Stanford Women's Gymnastics Team? What is there not to like about Stanford gymnastics?!?! When it comes down to it, the coaching staff and girls are what make this team what it is today. From the practices to the meets, the plane rides to the hikes, this gymnastics team is like no other.
