He's got cornerback speed, but linebacker size. No one hits any harder than Tank. He sets the tempo of the game and is a vicious tackler. He covers a lot of ground because of his speed. The 2000 Season:Enjoyed an outstanding season as the team's starter at free safety for all 11 games ... Earned Second-Team All-Pacific-10 Conference honors ... Third on the team with 66 total tackles ... Also had three tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, three interceptions and five pass break-ups ... In The Big Game vs. Cal, he established a new career best with 11 tackles to go along with an interception and pass break-up ... Had 10 tackles and a quarterback sack at UCLA ... His other two interceptions came in the season opener at Washington State and game 10 vs. Arizona State.
The 1999 Season: Started the first six games of the season at free safety before a foot injury forced him to miss games #7 and #8 at USC and Washington ... Came off the bench the last three regular season games before finishing the season in the starting lineup in the Rose Bowl ... Recorded 45 total tackles, two tackles-for-loss, two quarterback sacks, three pass break-ups and one interception ... Had a career best nine tackles vs. San Jose State ... The following week, had eight tackles and a QB sack vs. Oregon State ... Suffered a foot injury in the OSU game, which kept him out of the next two games ... Registered his first career interception in The Big Game vs. Cal.
The 1998 Season: As a true freshman, earned a first varsity letter after playing in 10 of 11 games and recording 24 total tackles ... Also had one tackle-for-loss, two pass deflections and one recovered fumble ... He did not play in the season opener vs. San Jose State, but played in the final 10 games of the year ... Had a season-high six tackles vs. Arizona State ... Had three tackles and recovered a fumble at Notre Dame.
In High School: Played quarterback and free safety for two seasons at Bay High School in Mississippi ... Named First-Team All-District as a junior and senior ... In 1997, he accounted for 56 tackles, four interceptions, two sacks and two fumble recoveries as a safety ... As a QB, he rushed 80 times for over 600 yards and four TDs and threw for over 750 yards and three touchdowns ... Tallied over 1,200 yards in total offense and scored 12 TDs as a junior ... Played basketball and ran track for four years in HS ... His events in track were the 400m, long jump, triple jump and high jump ... Member of the National Honor Society and Who's Who Among American High School Students.
