Tim Steele begins his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the women's swimming and diving team at Stanford. Steele, recently retired from a 36-year career in the real estate business, has been a friend of Cardinal head coach Richard Quick since the two swam in the same circles during Steele's days with the Wichita Swim Club from 1954-60.
Steele was a member of the inaugural swim team at Wichita State during the 1959-60 season and participated in the Missouri Valley Championships.
He moved to the West Coast to complete his Bachelor's degree from Stanford in Political Science in 1963 before receiving his MBA in Marketing Management from Santa Clara in 1968.
Steele coached at the Chuck Thompson Swim School in 1968 before limiting his participation to being a Stanford swimming fan during his real estate career.
He and his wife, Jan, also a Stanford graduate, live in Palo Alto.
