One of the truly great college football players of his era, Bob Reynolds starred on both sides of the ball for the “Vow Boys” from 1933-35. The three-year letterman earned first team All-American honors in ’34. Reynolds set a school record that will never be equaled by playing all 60 minutes for Stanford in the ’34, ’35, and ’36 Rose Bowl games. Nicknamed “The Horse” on The Farm, he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1961 where he was recognized as “the plow that dug deep furrows in enemy defenses” and noted that “he knocked people down like they were wooden statues.” Drafted in the sixth round of the 1936 NFL Draft, Reynolds played two seasons in the NFL and went on to become co-owner and president of the California Angels Major League Baseball team from 1960-75. |
