Nygaard, Stanford Drop Howard in First Round of NCAA Tournament, 111-59

STANFORD, Calif. -- Vanessa Nygaard had 13 of her 18 points in the first half when top-seeded Stanford raced to a 32-point lead on its way to a 111-59 rout of 16th-seeded Howard in an NCAA Tournament West Region first-round game at Stanford, California.

The Cardinal (31-1), ranked third in the country, extended their homecourt winning streak to 47 consecutive games, longest in the nation. Stanford will host either Montana or Texas Tech in the second round on Monday.
