Stanford Scores Season-Best

NORMAN, Okla. – No. 5 Stanford scored season-highs in three events to post a season-best team score but fell at No. 1 Oklahoma, 447.700-437.250.

Oklahoma’s score of 447.700 is the highest in the nation this year and the second-highest in the NCAA since the scoring system was adjusted in 2008.

Stanford scored season-bests on pommel horse (72.750), vault (74.400), and parallel bars (74.550).

Dennis Zaremski claimed the Cardinal’s lone individual victory of the night, posting a collegiate-best 15.800 on parallel bars. Brian Knott competed for the first time in the 2014 season and placed second in the event with a 15.200.

Stanford opened the meet on pommel horse and was led by Knott, who posted a collegiate-best 14.800. Sean Senters, also competing in his first meet of the season after returning from injury, recorded the Cardinal’s second highest score (14.700) and was followed by Akash Modi (14.550).

Modi had a great night on floor, tying his collegiate-best of 15.400 to place third.  Michael Levy added a 15.250, followed by Jonathan Deaton (14.400) and Paul Hichwa (14.150).

Stanford’s season-best performance on vault was highlighted by Modi’s collegiate-best 15.150 to place second and a 15.100 by Taylor Seaton to finish third.

Zaremski tabbed the Cardinal’s highest score on rings with a 15.100, while Modi (14.750) and Jordan DeClerk also contributed good routines.

Modi and Cale Robinson paced Stanford on parallel bars, each scoring 14.150.

Stanford will return to action next Friday at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.
