San Diego Crew Classic

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s rowing will head south to compete in the 43rd annual San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay in San Diego this weekend.

Fans can follow along online throughout the weekend with updated results and live stream coverage on www.crewclassic.org.

The Cardinal varsity eight, ranked 15th in the first regular-season USRowing Coaches poll, will compete against some of the other top boats in the nation during the two-day event.

Stanford’s varsity eight will compete for the Copley Cup, beginning with heat racing on Saturday at 8:24 a.m. PT.

The Cardinal’s second varsity eight boat will compete for the Sharp Cabrillo Cup, beginning with heat racing at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday.

The third varsity eight will battle for the Derek Guelker Memorial Cup, beginning with heat racing at 10:44 a.m.

Grand Finals for all three events will take place Sunday morning.

The San Diego Crew Classic will be Stanford’s second regatta of the spring season. On March 5, the Cardinal varsity eight won by two seats over Oregon State at Dexter Reservoir in Oregon. The Beavers claimed narrow wins in the second varsity eight and third varsity eight.  

In last season's San Diego Crew Classic, the third varsity eight claimed the event title, while the varsity eight placed third and the second varsity eight placed fifth in the Grand Final.

Following the San Diego Crew Classic, the Cardinal will host the Stanford Invitatoinal/Pac-12 Challenge a Redwood Shores April 16-17.
