STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 14 Cardinal takes to the road for the first time in the 2016 season with some stiff competition ahead as Stanford will take on No. 18 Boston College and reigning NCAA champions, No. 1 Syracuse. Both games will be played in Syracuse, N.Y. at J.S. Coyne Stadium.

Last Week with Stanford Field Hockey
• No. 14 Stanford continued its homestand, hosting No. 10 Michigan in a gritty 2-1 loss. Marissa Cicione scored her first goal of the year, but the Wolverines took the W. Next up, the Cardinal trounced the Kent State Golden Flashes 5-1 with Jessica Welch scoring twice en route to the win and her first career honor as she was named America East Rookie of the Week.
Varsity Spells Victory
• Most teams like to play at home in the comfy confines of their own stadium. The Cardinal LOVES Varsity Turf. Under head coach Tara Danielson, Stanford has a home record of 47-11 - an incredible 81% winning percentage.

In the Polls
• The Cardinal checked in at No. 14 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Preseason Poll. Its preseason ranking of 11 is the second-highest in program history.

Postseasons of Years Past
• Under head coach Tara Danielson, the Cardinal have gone to the NCAA Tournament five out of her six seasons at the helm for postseason record of 1-5.

Fly Like An Eagle
• The Cardinal have faced off with the Boston College Eagles five times with BC holding a 4-1 record over the Cardinal. While Danielson has not faced the Eagles in her Stanford tenure, the last meeting between the two teams in 2007 was a 2-1 win at home on Varsity Turf.

Orange is the new... Gold?
• The Cardinal have taken on the reigning NCAA Champion Syracuse seven times in its history and has yet to take a win from the powerhouse program. The Cardinal and the Orangemen faced off last year in the season opener that 'Cuse only won 2-1 - en route to winning their first-ever NCAA Championship and first-ever women's championship.

A Look Back to 2015
• No. 13 Stanford advanced to the semifinals of its first America East Tournament topping Vermont 5-2 before falling 2-1 (OT) to No. 17 Maine. In addition the Cardinal advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in program history. The Cardinal was defeated by No. 6 Duke 1-0 in OT.

Coaching Milestones
• Tara Danielson's tenure on the farm has showcased success nearly unparalleled in Stanford Field Hockey. In just six seasons she has become the second winningest coach in program history - second behind only Sheryl Johnson, who led the program for 18 years to 165 wins. It took Johnson 13 years to get her 100th win at Stanford... Danielson currently sits at 97 wins... in her SEVENTH year. This year Danielson will lead the Cardinal to her 100th career win at Stanford - at least if history tells us anything - Danielson has never posted a win total of less than 13 in a season in her career at Stanford.
