#StanfordNFL: Week 10 Preview

Players to Watch

Griff Whalen • WR • San Diego Chargers • Fourth season • @GriffWhalen

The Chargers are already without Danny Woodhead and leading receiver Keenan Allen. With Travis Benjamin's short-term health uncertain, Griff Whalen will be a player to watch in the San Diego offense. Whalen's snap count skyrocketed last week, and he is likely to see plenty more snaps this week with both Benjamin and Tyrell Williams nursing injuries.

Andrus Peat • T/G • New Orleans Saints • Second season • @AndrusPeat

New Orleans and Denver will face off on Sunday following the Saints' win at San Francisco to improve to 4-4. Saints left tackle Terron Armstead left Sunday's win at San Francisco with a knee injury and did not practice on Wednesday. Should Armstead not be able to play on Sunday, Peat would step in at left tackle and likely see a steady diet of Broncos edge rushers Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware.

Trent Murphy • DE/OLB • Washington Redskins • Third season • @TMurphy_93

Murphy returns after Washington's bye with a strong matchup against Minnesota, which is ranked 31st in the league at protecting the quarterback, according to Pro Football Focus. Week 8 was Murphy's first game since Week 1 without a sack – he will look to start a new streak against one of the league's most porous offensive lines.

Matchups to Watch

Dolphins at Chargers
While Griff Whalen has seen expanded playing time in San Diego, so has former Cardinal safety Michael Thomas for the Miami Dolphins, who have won three games in a row. In Week 7, Thomas played every defensive snap at safety for Miami, following it up with another busy day on Sunday against the New York Jets. Expect Whalen and Thomas to cross paths in a matchup of two teams clinging to playoff hope.

Falcons at Eagles
Five active former-Stanford tight ends ply their trade in the NFL, tied for the most of any program with Notre Dame. Three of the five will face off this weekend when the Falcons travel to Philadelphia. Zach Ertz is coming off his best game of the season in Week 8, catching all eight of his targets for a team-high 97 yards. Similarly, Austin Hooper and Levine Toilolo are coming off their most productive game as a pair, both catching touchdown passes in last Thursday's 43-28 win at Tampa Bay.

Injury Report

Indianapolis is on a much-needed bye week for Henry Anderson, who hasn't played since Week 6 with a knee injury. Ty Montgomery's snap count is likely to go away after missing Week 8 due to illness and playing limited reps in Week 9.

Week 10 Byes

Johnson Bademosi • CB/ST • Detroit Lions • Fifth season • @J_Bademosi24

Bademosi earned a two-year, $4.5 million contract in the offseason to play primarily special teams for Detroit, but an injury to Darius Slay in Week 7 gave him a chance to prove himself on defense. He made his first career interception in Week 8 and has broken up four passes since replacing Slay.

Henry Anderson • DE • Indianapolis Colts • Second season • @HenryAnderson91

Anderson's 2015 season was cut short by a torn ACL, and has managed 86 defensive snaps in four appearances in 2016. He has been effective in his limited action (four quarterback hits, four hurries and two run stops), but an injury to the opposite knee has limited Anderson's comeback. He has not played since the Colts' Week 6 trip to Houston.

Andrew Luck • QB • Indianapolis Colts • Fifth season • @ALBookClubNo NFL quarterback has faced pressure as often as Andrew Luck in 2016, but that hasn't stopped the former No. 1 overall pick from having a career season. Through nine games, Luck is completing a career-high 63.7 percent of passes with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Luck's cumulative +19.9 overall and +17.4 passing grades rank second in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

David Parry • DT/NG • Indianapolis Colts • Second season • @DavidParry58

Parry has built on a solid rookie campaign with a strong start to the 2016 season for the 4-5 Indianapolis Colts. Through nine games, all of which Parry has started, the second-year player has 26 tackles, one sack and 16 run stops – in 2015, Parry finished the season with 31 tackles, one sack and 21 run stops.
