STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford begins its longest road stretch of the season this weekend when it travels to Cathedral City, California, for the Mary Nutter Classic.

The Cardinal (7-3) will play five games in three days and take on a group of quality teams, including No. 1 Florida State. The trip is the first of a back-to-back as Stanford travels to Alabama next weekend for another five-game tournament.

Stanford opens the weekend Thursday with games against Bethune-Cookman (5:30 p.m. PT) and the Seminoles (8 p.m.). The Cardinal takes on St. John's on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and concludes the weekend with a pair of games on Saturday against San Diego State (5:30 p.m.) and Purdue (8 p.m.).

Stanford went 3-1 last week, earning a 6-3 midweek victory at UC Davis before hosting the Nike Invitational over the weekend. The Cardinal picked up wins against UC Santa Barbara and Pacific, and dropped a one-run decision against Omaha.

Kylie Sorenson and Teaghan Cowles led Stanford offensively on the week, both hitting .500 and combining for 11 RBIs. Bessie Noll also had a nice week at the plate, going 4-for-9 (.444) with a team-high five walks and four runs.

Nikki Bauer (3-1) made two starts and pitched well. She held a 0.88 ERA and permitted three runs – one earned – with four strikeouts in 8.0 innings.

Cowles leads Stanford with a .571 batting average on the season and is ranked second among Pac-12 players. Sorenson is tied for third among Pac-12 players with five doubles this season. Noll leads the conference in walks with 11.
