SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Stanford women's golf team shoots for its third consecutive victory on Tuesday at the Bruin Wave Invitational at San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The top-ranked Cardinal earned a seven-stroke lead over USC after the first 18 holes Monday morning in the first of two scheduled rounds. However, the second round was suspended by darkness early on the back nine, with Stanford increasing its advantage to 14 strokes ahead of UCLA.
Coming off wins at the Peg Barnard Invitational and Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, the Cardinal ended play Monday at 7-over. The Bruins are second at 21-over.
Individually, freshman Albane Valenzuela and senior Jisoo Keel are locked in a four-way tie for second at even par, two strokes behind leader Lilia Vu of UCLA, who is 2-under. Casey Danielson and Andrea Lee share sixth at 2-over, while Madie Chou is tied for eighth at 3-over.
Sierra Kersten is tied for 22nd at 7-over, followed by Shannon Aubert, Quirine Eijkenboom and Ziyi Wang, who are tied for 32nd at 9-over. Calli Rinsgby is tied for 73rd at 19-over.
Keel is leading the Stanford B Team, which is fourth at 25-over.
Second round play will resume at 8 a.m. PT on Tuesday, followed by the final round. Pairings will remain the same.
