Softblog: From Bama to The Farm

A Stanford softball student-athlete has written a weekly blog in each of the past four seasons to provide fans a behind-the-scenes perspective of the team. This year, sophomore Lauren Frost is taking over the Softblog to chronicle the team's adventures throughout the season. Her fifth entry this year is below.

***Welcome back Stanford softball fans!

After a long week of pesky Week Nine midterms, projects, presentations, essays, and PSETs, I'm happy to say the Softblog has returned as we grind our way through Dead Week and into finals!

Two weekends ago we had the opportunity to travel across the country to warm Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and the trip did not disappoint. The environment surrounding the Crimson Tide's incredible stadium was surreal, making for a fun weekend of competitive ball with a great crowd.

It was the first time Stanford softball has traveled to the East Coast since 2013 but our fan base was far from missing despite being so far from The Farm.

We had the pleasure of seeing many families over the weekend again including East Coast residents the Burks and Pettits, as well as other loved ones from all over who made the trek to come support us.

Even some family friends stopped by to show their support, such as the Kellys who are long-time friends of the Fowkes family. Seeing family on the road never gets old and the pictures always seem to get more and more precious each time.

To celebrate a great time and the coming together of so many families, we ended our time in Alabama with a team and family dinner at Dreamland Barbecue. It was a meal that did not disappoint!

Fast forward a week and we're back at it at the Stanford Easton Classic! It was good to be home this past weekend especially since the weather did not disappoint. With sunshine and blue skies all weekend there was no better place to be than on the field playing ball.

A fun weekend for all of us, it was especially fun for Molly as she got to play against best friend and former teammate, Kelli!

The two were inseparable in high school and haven't let the distance between their schools hinder their friendship one bit.

They're as close as ever and it was fun for all of us to get to watch their smiles all weekend as they competed on the same field together like old times.

Molly wasn't the only one who got to play against an old friend. Victoria also found herself squaring up against her best friend, Nicole, as well!

They go way back, making memories together both on field and on the (literal) farm.

It's been a great few weeks but now that our preseason schedule has run its course it's time for a quick bye-weekend before we roll into Pac-12 play!

Come catch us in Berkeley in two weeks as we take on the Bears in our conference play opener!

As always, thanks for all of your love and support! Here's to a great rest of the season!

Until next time,

Frosty
