Tough Test at Taube

STANFORD, Calif. – The 44th-ranked Cardinal returns to dual action this week against a trio of top-ranked opponents as it sets to host No. 7 Cal, No. 8 Texas and No. 41 TCU at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. Matches begin Tuesday at 3 p.m. with Bay Area rival Cal.

Texas is on tap next with the Longhorns coming to Taube for a 3 p.m. tilt on Friday before TCU faces the Cardinal Saturday at 2 p.m. PT. 

Last Week:
The Cardinal (6-3) is coming off a weekend at the Pacific Coast Doubles tournament where Jack Barber and William Genesen paired up for the first time to win six straight matches to advance to the finals where the duo ultimately fell to Oklahoma State's Lucas Gerch and Arjun Kadhe 6-3, 6-4.

All-Time Series History
Cal – Dating back to 1967 the Cardinal has taken on the Cal 113 times – with Stanford holding the edge in the series with 91 wins to Cal's 22. Last season the Cardinal lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at home and a 4-1 loss in Berkeley to the Bears.

Texas – A 40 year history for the Cardinal is with the Texas Longhorns, who the Cardinal lead 12-3 all-time. Last year the Cardinal fell 4-3 to UT in Austin.
 
TCU – The Horned Frogs enter into Saturday's match with an even 4-4 record against Stanford. Last year in Austin Stanford fell 4-2.
 
Fall Recap
The Cardinal came off another successful fall campaign that saw Tom Fawcett help lead the U.S. team to victory for the second straight year at the 2016 Master'U BNP Paribus International Team competition in France in November.

Fawcett also reached the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships and was the consolation runner-up in the National Individual Indoor Championships. He enters the season ranked No. 8 by the ITA.

In addition, Yale Goldberg and Sameer Kumar captured the ITA Northwest Regional doubles title. The duo fought off multiple match points in the championship en route to the title. The team enters the dual season ranked No. 15 by the ITA.

In the final tune-up of the season before dual play, the Cardinal traveled to the Sherwood Collegiate Cup in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Jack Barber, in his first match in 22 months after recovering from surgery, topped the 11th-ranked Gage Brymer of UCLA before finishing as a semifinalist in the singles main draw.
