STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 Stanford will pursue its sixth national title at the NCAA Championships this week in West Point, N.Y. The Cardinal claimed NCAA titles in 1992, 1993, 1995, 2009 and 2011.
Stanford (15-3) begins competition Friday at 10 a.m. PT in Session I and will compete against No. 3 Ohio State, No. 6 Penn State, No. 7 Nebraska No. 10 Air Force and No. 11 Michigan – the top three teams in Friday's competition will advance to Saturday's finals.
The Cardinal has been phenomenal all season, spending every week ranked No. 2 in the NCAA. Under the new scoring system, Stanford has broken the 430-point mark once and the 420-point mark six times.
The Cardinal has finished first in every competition except its head-to-head with No. 1 Oklahoma and the MPSF Championship as well as against reigning Olympic Champions, Japan.
Stanford placed second at the MPSF Championship with a 426.850 – the team's sixth consecutive runner-up finish at the conference competition.

Cardinal Update
• Stanford scored 426.850 at the MPSF Championships to claim its sixth consecutive second-place finish.
• Akash Modi took the all-around title (88.000) for his sixth title of the year
• Modi has earned 19 individual event victories against NCAA teams this year: all-around (6), parallel bars (5), floor (3), pommel horse (4) and high bar (1)
• Modi was named the MPSF Gymnast of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, the first gymnast in MPSF history to do so – and only the third athlete in MPSF history including Stanford legend Tony Azevedo. He also owns the NCAA career record in CGA Gymnast of the Week awards with 16
