First Free Exhibition

STANFORD, Calif. – Fans will get their first chance to see Stanford in 2017 when the Cardinal hosts an exhibition Sunday at 1 p.m. against Portland at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
 
Admission to the match is free and will include postgame autographs from the two-time defending national champions. Season ticket memberships, mini plans and single-game tickets are currently on sale by visiting gostanford.com/msoctickets or calling 800-STANFORD.
 
The nation's most successful collegiate soccer program over the past three seasons, Stanford is 46-8-11 (.792) since 2014, has won back-to-back national championships and three consecutive Pac-12 titles.

Cardinal Quick Hitters

  • Stanford is one of six programs to win back-to-back national championships and was the first to do it in a dozen years.
    • This season the Cardinal will attempt to become just the second program to win three straight NCAA titles (Virginia; 1991-94).
  • Stanford on the 2016 title without allowing a goal throughout the entire tournament, becoming just the third program to ever do that (Wisconsin – 1995, San Francisco 1976).
  • The Cardinal will head into this season with an active shutout streak of 548:29.
  • Stanford is the only school to return multiple 2016 All-Americans in 2017 (Tomas Hilliard-Arce and Foster Langsdorf).
  • The Cardinal returns nine of its 11 starters from a year ago, 100% of its goals scored and 91.7% of its assists (33-of-36)
  • Stanford has also won Pac-12 titles each of the past three seasons, the program's first conference three-peat since it won four straight University and Club Soccer League championships from 1919-23.

Promotional Calendar

  • Stanford's regular-season home opener against No. 14 Creighton on Friday, Sept. 1 will be Cardinal Kids Day and fans can receive up to two free youth tickets with the purchase of a paid adult ticket. Preseason No. 1

  • Stanford, topped the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll announced last Thursday and is followed in the top five by No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 Denver, No. 4 North Carolina and No. 5 Clemson.

Two on Hermann Watch List

  • All-Americans Tomas Hilliard-Arce and Foster Langsdorf are two of 31 players on the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
