Catching up with New York native Grace Garcia
Why Stanford: "The balance of high academics and athletics drew me. Then, my love for the school grew when I first stepped on campus and experienced the strong university and community support. I didn't think it was possible to feel at home in a place where I had not grown up, but the coaching staff, teammates and peers I have met changed that. They welcomed me with open arms and kind hearts, and
I cannot be more thankful."
Favorite place on campus: "Meyer Green. It has a perfect view of Hoover Tower, and the grass is my favorite place to relax in the sun and study."
Favorite ice cream: "Mint chocolate chip or java chip."
Post-college plans: "Travel and experience different cultures. Career-wise, I am hoping to explore different fields during my time at Stanford and find what I truly enjoy doing."
Dream job: "Something that allows me to incorporate my love of the arts and math into my daily work."
Something you never leave the house without? "A snack. You never know how long you will be gone and being hangry (angry due to hunger) is not fun."
What other sport would you play at Stanford? "Basketball! I love playing for fun, however my short stature and severe lack of ability to aim hinder any chance of success."
