Freshmen Features: Part V

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshmen from the Stanford women's lacrosse team answer some frequently asked questions and give some insight into what it's like to be a freshman at Stanford. Our fifth installment:
What is your favorite part about living in California?
Rachel Cowan (Cherry Hills Village, Colorado)
I like the people and the weather in California. Stanford in particular is in such a cool area and there is so much to explore both on and off campus. When you have free time, you will never lack things to do!

Trudie Grattan (Richmond, Virginia)
I like the accessibility. If you want to go to the beach, it's so close. If you want to go to the biological preserve, its twenty minutes away. If you want to spend your Sunday in San Francisco, it's a short train ride.

Katherine Gjertsen (Winnetka, Illinois)
The weather and scenery here are amazing. It is so nice living in a place where I can comfortably play my sport and bike to class outside all year-round without having to constantly bundle up. It is a nice change from the freezing Chicago weather!

Galen Lew (Glen Ridge, New Jersey)
Obviously the weather is a big part of being in California; having both the warmth and the cool weather in Northern California is something that can't be matched.

Gabby Noto (Atherton, California)
I live here! But, I love the food. California has so many choices of food styles and cultures. Anywhere near campus you can get Mexican, Acai bowls, Poke, anything really. It's awesome.

Chelsea Trattner (Ridgewood, New Jersey)
The weather!! There is no greater pleasure than being able to enjoy the outdoors due to the amazing weather here, it enables so many opportunities such as hiking the dish or studying outdoors.

Marianna Salvatori (Baltimore, Maryland)
I love the weather here, we get to play lacrosse wearing t-shirts in the middle of November!

Taylor Scornavacco (San Diego, California)
I've grown up in Southern California for most of my life and I have a very close relationship with my family, so I always knew I wanted to stay close to home. Being at Stanford only an hour flight away from San Diego, I've been able to experience the comfort of proximity as well as the growth that comes with branching out into a new territory. Stanford is an amazing place to be and is in one of the prettiest places in the country.
