FAQs

Why is this policy being adopted?
• In an effort to improve fan safety, Stanford Athletics is implementing a bag policy for all ticketed events at Stanford Stadium and Maples Pavilion beginning in 2016. This policy limits the size and types of bags that are permitted inside the stadium, but is not a restriction on many of the items that fans have brought into the stadium in the past. This policy will enhance safety at our games as a clear bag is easily and quickly searched.

Will clear bags be available through Stanford or on the day of the event?
• There are a variety of options. All football season ticket members (one per account) should receive one 12x12x6" clear plastic bag prior to the start of the season. We'll also be distributing simple clear bags at Guest Services tents located of Stanford Stadium prior to the first three games of the season. The Stanford Bookstore and Athletics Shop will sell clear bags before and on game day. Alternatively, we suggest that you use a one-gallon clear Ziploc bag.

What happens if I show up at the entrance with a bag that is not permitted?
• Fans with a prohibited bag will not be permitted inside the stadium. Fans with prohibited bags will need to return their bags to their vehicle, and transfer their belongings to an approved clear plastic bag before entering the athletic venue.

Fans will also have the option to bring their items to a complimentary bag check station. Guests with bags or items that do not satisfy the bag policy can bring them to one of the Stadium's complimentary bag check stations.

During football games and events at Stanford Stadium, these bag check-in stations are located at Cagan Stadium and Cobb Track. The bag check-in stations open two hours before game time and close one hour after the conclusion of the event.

What types of bags are permitted into Stanford Stadium and Maples Pavilion?
• Approved bags include clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that do not exceed 12"x6"x12"; one-gallon clear, re-sealable plastic storage bags; small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand) with or without a handle or strap. Prohibited bags include but are not limited to purses, backpacks, binocular cases, camera cases, fanny packs, luggage, seat cushions with a zipper, any bag larger than the permissible size, and any bag that is not clear.

How many bags can each person bring into the venue?
• Each person is allowed one (1) clear plastic bag and one (1) small clutch. The clear bag must be no larger than 12"x6"x12", made of clear PVC vinyl, or a one-gallon Ziploc bag. The small clutch allows privacy for small personal items and will also be searched.

Have the Permitted and Prohibited Items changed as well with this new bag policy?
• No. Fans are encouraged to bring only necessary items to football games. All guests and items are subject to search. Any item not on the Permitted Items List will not be allowed into Stanford Stadium or Maples Pavilion unless otherwise approved and properly inspected. Special considerations will be made for guests with special medical needs and individuals caring for infants.

Can I carry cameras, binoculars, phones, or tablets separately from what I put in a clear bag?
• Yes. We are limiting only the type of bags carried into the stadium, not items that you normally bring to a game. Fans can continue to carry permitted items in their pockets or hands such as keys, phones, wallets, blankets, etc., if you choose not to put them in a clear bag or clutch. In addition you can carry a blanket over your arms, and binoculars and/or camera around your neck or in your hands without the case. You can use the clear bag and clutch to carry other items.

Are seat cushions allowed to be carried into Stanford Stadium or Maples Pavilion?
• Yes, only approved seat cushions that do not have pockets or zippers may be carried into the facility.

Are blankets in cold weather allowed?
• Yes. Fans are able to bring blankets by carrying them over your arm or shoulder.

Are all purses prohibited?
• No. Small clutch purses (no larger than 4.5"x6.5"), with or without a handle or strap, are permitted along with a clear tote bag or one-gallon plastic bag.

If I have certain medical items/equipment that I need to bring into the venue what do I do?
• Fans with medically necessary items may enter at any gate/entrance but will be subject to additional screening. Supervisors at each entrance will assist.

Are diaper bags allowed?
• Diaper bags are permitted, but will be subject to screening. You must have the infant(s) present for which the diaper bag is being carried when the diaper bag is screened.

We recommend you arrive early to avoid delays

General Questions
How do I pay for parking on game day?
If you do not purchase a season ticket parking pass, all General parking lots (Lots #4, #7, #8, #9, and #13) will have dedicated cashiers collecting money (cash only) and distributing receipts to be used as game day parking passes. Cashiers will be able to distribute change, but exact change ($30) is appreciated. All other lots are designated reserved parking lots and require advanced purchase parking passes.
Do I need to purchase a parking pass when I renew my season ticket membership, or can I purchase it later?
It is highly recommended that season ticket members purchase a parking pass during the season ticket renewal process, as most of the reserved lots will sell out.
Season Ticket Parking
What is the cost for a Season Ticket parking pass?
For 2016, the cost for a Cardinal or General season parking pass is $105.
As a Season Ticket holder, which parking lots will I have access to?
The Cardinal Parking Pass is valid for Lots #3 and #10, which will only be accessible by those who purchase the season Cardinal Parking Pass. The General Parking Pass is valid for all General Lots (Lots #4, #7, #8, #9, and #13).
How many parking passes may I purchase?
Season ticket members may purchase one (1) parking pass for every four (4) season tickets. For example, if you have one to four (1-4) season tickets you had the option to purchase one (1) season parking pass. If you have five to eight (5-8) season tickets, you had the option to purchase up to two (2) season parking passes.
I am a Family Plan football season ticket holder. Where will I be able to park?
Family Plan season ticket holders had the option to renew or purchase a General Parking Pass for $105/season. If you purchased a Lot 2/El Camino Grove or Masters Grove parking pass in 2015, you had the option to renew this parking pass.
I had a General Parking pass in 2015. How can I upgrade my parking to a Cardinal Lot, Lot #2/El Camino Grove, or Masters Grove pass?

Fans that purchased parking passes in Lot #2/El Camino Grove or Masters Grove in 2015 had first right of refusal to renew parking in these lots. Therefore, there are currently no parking passes available to accommodate new fans. Fans interested in upgrading to these lots for the 2017 season may request a parking change in the “Comments Box” of the online renewal application or by attaching a note to a hard-copy renewal. Because parking is based on availability, requesting a change does not guarantee an upgrade.

NOTE: Parking upgrades will be based on parking availability and an individual's level of engagement with Stanford Athletics and Stanford University as measured by the following criteria:
Years of season ticket purchase for all season-ticketed sports;
Stanford alumnus;
Former Stanford student-athlete;
Volunteer service on an athletic or university board;
Lifetime gifts to the athletic department;
Lifetime gifts to the university;
Annual gifts to the Buck/Cardinal Club

Will I be guaranteed a parking spot?

If you have a Lot #2/El Camino Grove, Masters Grove, or Cardinal Parking Pass you will be guaranteed entrance to that specific lot.

General Parking lots (Lots #4, #7, #8, #9 & #13) are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Recreational Vehicle (RV) Parking
Which parking lots will be available for RVs?
Five lots (Lots #2, #7, #8, #9 and #10) can accommodate RV parking. Only three (Lots #7, #8, and #9) are available for day-of-game drive-up parking. Gameday RV parking in those three lots is cash only, available on a first-come, first-served basis and will cost $60. A limited number of season parking passes for RVs were available in Lot #10 only by purchasing the season Cardinal Parking Pass, and in Lots #7, #8, and #9 by purchasing the season General Parking Pass. Both of those season passes cost $210 for RVs.
Which lots are available for overnight parking?
Lot 2#/El Camino Grove is the only parking lot available for overnight parking and requires a Lot #2/El Camino Grove overnight parking pass. Lot #2/El Camino Grove will open beginning at 3:00 p.m. two days prior to each home game (e.g. Thursday at 3:00 p.m. for a Saturday home game).
Parking for Persons with Disabilities
Which parking lots are available for patrons with a Disabled Parking placard?
Patrons with disabilities can park in the H Lot and Lot #1/Sunken Diamond with any season ticket parking pass or a cash payment of $30 per game. A current, valid disabled parking placard is required and will be checked upon entry into lots. Please have your valid disabled placard available.
Tailgating
Is tailgating allowed in all parking lots?
Patrons may park and tailgate in any of the designated football parking lots around Stanford Stadium. Stanford's shaded groves and ample lawns all contribute to a great game day experience.
When will parking lots open for tailgating?
All parking lots will open five (5) hours prior to kickoff or Noon - whichever is earlier, except Lot #2/El Camino Grove which will open at 6:00 a.m. on gameday. Lot #2 overnight parking passes allow fans to arrive at 3:00 p.m. two days prior to the home game.
Do you accommodate group tailgates?

Group tailgate areas are located on various plazas and fields around the Stadium area. Cost varies based on size, location, and amenities. For typical groups of 50-100, spaces start at $125 and includes one General Parking pass. Larger areas are priced higher. Areas may be reserved by calling (800)-STANFORD (800-782-6367) and selecting Option 3 for the Group Sales team, or by emailing groupsales@stanford.edu.

I don't wish to tailgate prior to the game. Is there a place my family can go to purchase food before Stanford Stadium gates open?
Yes. Stanford Football's Fan Fest offers live entertainment, kids activities and food/beverage for purchase prior to every home football game. Fan Fest admission is FREE and opens 2.5 hours prior to kick off. Fan Fest is located in the Hammer Throw Area between Stanford Stadium and Cobb Track and Angell Field.
