STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's lacrosse opens its home slate against a pair of East Coast foes. The Cardinal welcomes No. 2 Stony Brook on Monday at 4 p.m. PT, and then hosts Harvard at Cagan Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. Stanford is also hosting its Presidential Clinic prior to the opener on Monday -- more details are here

MatchupsNo. 2 Stony Brook Seawolves (0-0)
» Stony Brook opens the 2018 season with a West Coast swing. The Seawolves played USC on Friday night.  
» Stony Brook is coming off its best season in program history, going 20-2 in 2017. The Seawolves fell at Maryland in the NCAA Quarterfinal round after winning its fifth straight America East title.
» The Seawolves won 20 games in a season for the first time in program history, topping Bryant and Northwestern in NCAA Tournament action.

Harvard Crimson (0-0)
» Harvard hosts New Hampshire on Saturday to open its season. 
» The Crimson finished the 2017 campaign with an 8-8 record (4-3 Ivy League) and earned an Ivy League Tournament berth for the fourth straight season.
» The Crimson lost first-team All-Ivy selection Marisa Romeo (50 goals, 25 assists), who capped off her stellar career with a season for the record books in 2017, with the sixth most points (75) in a single season in program history. She finished her career with 229 points, becoming only the fourth player in program history to eclipse 200 for her career.
» Returners Julia Glynn (21 goals, four assists; Ivy League Honorable Mention) and Keeley MacAfee (37 goals, nine assist) had great seasons for Harvard. Senior goaltender Meredith Brown (7-7-0, 90 saves) also returns in net for Harvard. History in the Making» The Cardinal returns its all-time career leader in points in 2018. Kelsey Murray has 229 career points, including a 56-game point streak, dating back to March 7, 2014 against Towson.
» Murray also has 145 career goals – which is tied with Sarah Flynn (2008-11) for most all-time at Stanford.
» Murray has also recorded 84 career assists, placing her only five behind claiming the all-time record from Claire Hubbard (2007-10).

Inaugural Pac-12 Season» 2018 marks the first season in Pac-12 history. The conference consists of Cal, Arizona State, USC, Oregon, Cal and the Cardinal. Each team will play each other home and away for a total of 10 conference games. 
» Stanford, which was ranked 23rd in the ILWCA preseason poll, was selected to finish third in the Pac-12 in the conference's first preseason coaches poll.
» The Cardinal has seven games scheduled against teams ranked in the preseason Top 25. 
» Dillon Schoen, Madison O'Leary and Kelsey Murray were selected as team captains. Murray is Stanford's all-time leading scorer, O'Leary is a returning captain, and Schoen has played every game in her career. More info here.

 A Look Back» The 2018 home opener was postponed a day due to the snowy conditions in Denver. The game was played Sunday afternoon in Colorado. Murray scored three times and senior Allie DaCar made 12 saves, but No. 23 Stanford dropped its season opener, 12-9, at Denver. A full recap is here.
» Stanford finished 12-6 in 2017 and concluded the season in the conference semifinals.

 A Look Ahead» Next up, Stanford makes the long trip for its East Coast swing. The Cardinal visits Duke on Friday, March 2 at noon PT, and then takes on Elon at 9 a.m. PT on Sunday, March 4.
» The first Pac-12 game in program history is set for March 9 at Colorado.
» The inaugural Pac-12 home game will be on March 17 at 1 p.m. PT against Cal.
