Quick And Convincing

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 2 Stanford quickly dispatched of UC Davis 4-0 on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Playing at home for the first time in three weeks, Stanford (9-1) got back in the win column after suffering its first loss of the season last weekend, a 4-3 setback to No. 1 Wake Forest at the National Team Indoor Championships.

The Cardinal secured an extremely competitive doubles point to take a 1-0 lead, with Michael Genender and Sameer Kumar prevailing 7-6 (4) at the No. 1 spot after the teams had split matches.

Stanford quickly wrapped up singles play even with a shuffled lineup. Kumar contributed a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 to make it 2-0 before William Genesen put the Cardinal on the brink of clinching with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 5.

Genender made it official with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court six.

Stanford returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 24, at No. 36 California in a 1 p.m. start.
