STANFORD, Calif. - Three Cardinal had hat tricks, led by five goals from freshman Ali Baiocco, and No. 18 Stanford lacrosse led wire-to-wire in a 19-8 victory at Oregon on Sunday.
Stanford (4-3, 1-1 Pac-12) jumped out to a 14-3 lead at the half and coasted to its first-ever Pac-12 victory in the conference's inaugural season.
Senior Kelsey Murray had four goals and two assists for a team-high six points, and Maggie Nick contributed her second straight hat trick with three goals.
The Cardinal scored the game's first six goals. Nick opened the scoring just 35 seconds into the contest, and Baiocco added her first two of the game. Murray capped the run with her first of the game at the 21:53 mark.
Senior goalkeeper Allie DaCar made six saves and held Oregon (3-2, 1-1) scoreless for the first 11:28. After the Ducks got on the board, freshman Galen Lew and sophomore Daniella McMahon scored 25 seconds apart for an 8-1 lead midway through the half.
Oregon scored four minutes later, but Stanford responded with goals from Areta Buness, Murray, Dillon Schoen and Baiocco, respectively, for a 12-2 advantage at the 7:18 mark.
The Ducks briefly got within double digits, but Nick scored twice more before the half, and triggered the running clock for the final 33 minutes.
The lead grew to as many as 13 as Nick and Baiocco scored the first two goals after intermission for a 16-3 edge with 26:28 remaining.
Freshman Emma Knaus scored her first career goal with 8:08 remaining. Nick led the team with four draw controls, while Genesis Lucero and Julia Massaro also added three draw controls apiece. McMahon had a team-high three ground balls. Lew and McMahon both had a pair of assists.
Freshman goalkeeper Trudie Grattan recorded her first two career saves while allowing just one goal in a little over eight minutes of action.
Oregon won 17 of the 28 draw controls, but Stanford out-shot the Ducks, 35-23, including 25-16 on goal.
Stanford returns home from the long road trip for its first-ever Pac-12 game at Cagan Stadium. The Cardinal hosts rival Cal on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT.
