Stanford Wins Two

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – Stanford women's rowing won two of its three races in the season-opening regatta Saturday morning against UCLA and San Diego State at Ballona Creek.
 
The varsity eight won by open water with a time of 6:43.30 to highlight the morning, ahead of second-place UCLA (7:18.30) and San Diego State (7:29.00). 
 
Stanford's second varsity eight came in second with a time of 7:08.56, two seconds behind UCLA (7:06.10) and 15 seconds ahead of San Diego State (7:23.78).
 
Stanford entered two boats in the varsity four, with the 'A' boat placing first with a time of 7:57.50. The Cardinal's 'B' boat finished in third with a time of 7:31.63, three seconds behind San Diego State (7:28.96).
 
The Cardinal will open its 2017 home schedule on March 31 and April 1 at Redwood Shores, hosting the Pac-12 Invitational.
