Bryce Wills Signs with Cardinal

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford head coach Jerod Haase has announced the signing of nationally-ranked guard Bryce Wills to a National Letter of Intent.

Wills joins fellow nationally-ranked signees Cormac Ryan (6-5, 180-pound guard from New York, N.Y.) and Keenan Fitzmorris (7-0, 210-pound center from Overland Park, Kan.). The trio form a class that is No. 32 by 247Sports and No. 35 by Rivals in the latest national rankings. The class follows a 2017 recruiting class that was ranked eighth nationally by 247Sports and 11th by Rivals.

"Bryce is a tremendous player with exceptional character," Haase said. "He is athletic and very versatile with a great wingspan. He has the ability to play any position on the perimeter at a high level. Bryce epitomizes what we look for at Stanford."

A product of White Plains, N.Y., the 6-6, 190-pound guard with a 7-1 wingspan is one of New York's top prospects. Wills attends Iona Preparatory School in nearby New Rochelle, N.Y. He was a four-year varsity starter and three-year captain for the Gaels. Wills averaged 15.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3.0 blocks, 2.5 steals and shot better than 60 percent from the floor in leading Iona Prep to a Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) New York division title. The Gaels won 21 games and reached the quarterfinals of the CHSAA AA tournament this past season.

Wills is a two-time selection to the All Westchester/Putnam County All Star Team by the The Journal News. He earned first-team honors as a senior this past season. The senior was also a first-team selection by the coaches in the CHSAA. He earned Class AA All-State honors as a junior in 2017. The 2018 all-state selections have yet to be announced. Wills was also named to The Journal News Super 7 Team, recognizing the top players in the Lower Hudson Valley in 2018.

A four-star prospect nationally and a consensus top-10 prospect in New York, ESPN ranks Wills No. 77 overall in the 2018 class and Rivals ranks him No. 78. Considered a shooting guard, he ranks No. 19 nationally at his position by Rivals and No. 29 by 247Sports.

Wills competed for the USA Select team in the Albert Schweitzer Tournament at the Under-18 FIBA World Cup in Mannheim, Germany, earlier this month. He averaged double digits for the USA Select squad, which finished seventh in the prestigious tournament.

The guard played with the New York Rens on the Nike EYBL circuit prior to his senior year of high school.

Wills, Ryan and Fitzmorris are expected to enroll at Stanford this summer. The three will join a Stanford team that is coming off a 19-win season in which the Cardinal, in Haase's second season at the helm, finished third in the Pac-12 for its highest finish and most conference victories (11) in 10 seasons.
