STANFORD, Calif. – A three-run home run by Jazmyn Jackson was the difference as Cal took game one of the series against the Cardinal, Friday, at Smith Family Stadium.
Stanford (22-24, 2-14) hung with Cal (31-13, 5-10) through four scoreless innings before Jackson roped a shot to centerfield with one out in the fifth to score the go-ahead runs.
The Cardinal had its chances, stranding six runners in seven innings. Junior Lauren Frost led off the third inning with a triple – her second of the season. Stanford has now registered 17 triples as a team, which is tied for the third most in a single season in program history.

Cal junior Zoe Conley earned the win in the circle, moving to 14-10 overall. She had six strikeouts in her 17th complete game. Stanford junior Carolyn Lee took the loss, dropping to 3-9.
Sophomore Kristina Inouye, who returned to the lineup after missing the previous four games, hit a single to left field in the sixth. Junior designated player Molly Fowkes led off the seventh with a single through the left side.
Stanford and Cal will meet again on Saturday at 5 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
