Card Halts Bison

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior Kathryn Plummer entered Monday's match at Howard just one kill shy of 1,000 for her career. The outside hitter had to work for it, but at 19-11 in the opening set she found the back line to hit the mark.
 
While it wasn't the most efficient offensive match for the Cardinal, No. 1 Stanford leaves Washington, D.C. with a 2-0 record after a 25-16, 25-22, 25-15 win over Howard at Burr Gymnasium Monday.
 
Plummer became the 19th player in program history to record 1,000 career kills. She finished with night with eight kills and eight digs.
 


Senior middle blocker Tami Alade led the team with nine kills on .538 hitting and racked up six blocks. Freshman middle blocker Holly Campbell added six kills on seven swings in two sets off the bench.
 
Junior setter Jenna Gray dished out 32 assists and tallied three blocks, while junior libero Morgan Hentz matched her season-high with 15 digs. Junior Audriana Fitzmorris totaled five kills on .625 hitting and had two blocks.
 
Overall, the Cardinal hit just .187 but held the Bison to a .033 clip. Stanford finished with eight team blocks and four aces.
 
Howard was led by Jurnee Tipton, who had a match-high 10 kills. Bison libero Fola Wilson finished with 13 digs.
 
Stanford remains on the road as it travels to No. 9 BYU on Friday. The Cardinal will also take on Wichita State and West Virginia while in Provo.
