STANFORD, Calif. - No. 20 Stanford embarks on its second road trip of the season this week, searching for its first victory after three straight hard-fought defeats against top-15 competition.

The Cardinal (0-3, 0-0 America East) travels to Bloomington, Indiana, for an appearance in the Hoosier Invitational. Stanford will square off against host Indiana on Friday, in addition to playing neutral-site contests against Ohio on Thursday and Central Michigan on Sunday.

About to hit the road, but always thinking of home. #GoStanford

Despite its 0-3 record, Stanford has been competitive in each of its first three contests, including close calls in overtime against No. 12 Northwestern and No. 11 Syracuse. In the other matchup, the Cardinal remained level against top-ranked and defending NCAA champion Connecticut through halftime before falling 3-0.

One of the most consistent programs in the country and a fixture in the national rankings, Stanford dropped only five spots in the latest edition of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll.

The Cardinal is coming off a 2-1 loss to Syracuse in its home opener, representing only its 13th loss at the Varsity Turf in nine seasons. Emma Alderton scored in the 10th minute following an assist from Phoebe Crosthwaite to put the Cardinal ahead 1-0 at halftime. Syracuse equalized early in the second period and converted the game-winner in overtime while Stanford was competing down a player after receiving a yellow card.

Stanford, which has won at least 13 games in each of head coach Tara Danielson's eight seasons, returns home on Sept. 14 against Yale.
