AUSTIN, Texas – Stanford began the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational with a second-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
"We're overall pretty happy with tonight's start to the meet," said the Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming Ted Knapp. "We had a lot of new faces on both the A- and B-relay, and we'll look to keep it going tomorrow with some of our best events."
The Cardinal's quartet of Jack LeVant, Mason Gonzalez, Will Macmillan and James Murphy (6:17.14) placed second in the lone event of the evening, led by LeVant's leadoff leg of 1:32.61, a new program record surpassing the previous mark held by Austin Staab.
Stanford's team of Alex Liang, David Madej, Johannes Calloni and True Sweetser (6:25.17) also placed seventh.
Racing continues tomorrow morning with the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle preliminaries, followed by the evening finals session which also includes the 200-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay. Live results are available at GoStanford.com.
