STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford wrestling team hosts San Francisco State, Saturday at 3:30 p.m., for an outdoor dual at Football Fan Fest prior to the Cardinal's football game versus Oregon State. It will be the fourth outdoor dual in program history.
Stanford (0-0) began the season at the Princeton Open last weekend, crowing three individual champions.True freshmen Real Woods and Shane Griffith won the 141 and 165 pounds weight classes, respectively, while redshirt freshman Haydn Maley won the heavyweight title. Overall, the Cardinal had seven individual placers and all 13 wrestlers who competed won at leads two matches.
Saturday marks the first dual of the year for Stanford, which is ranked No. 25 as a team in the InterMat Dual Rankings this week. The Cardinal boasts three individual ranked wrestlers - No. 8 Nathan Traxler (197 pounds), No. 11 Paul Fox (149 pounds) and No. 19 Gabriel Townsell (125 pounds). Head coach Jason Borrelli, who is now in his 11th season at the helm of the program, is three dual wins away from 100 for his career. Chris Horpel is Stanford's all-time winningest coach with 105 dual victories.

San Francisco State is 1-1 to start the season with a 36-7 win over Life Pacific College. The Gator fell 34-3 to CSU Bakersfield in its season opener. SFSU has two wrestlers ranked in the NCAA DII polls - No. 7 Nathan Cervantez (125 pounds) and No. 11 Jordan Gurrola (141 pounds).
Following Saturday's home opener, Stanford travels to Bakersfield for the Roadrunner Open on Sunday, Nov. 18.
