LAS VEGAS - Stanford's Nathan Traxler placed fourth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite, Saturday, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Traxler went 6-2 in the two-day tournament, falling in the third-place bout at 197 pounds. Both of his losses came at the hands of Virginia's Jay Aiello. He started off the day with a fall in 1:30 over Utah Valley's Tanner Orndorff. He then advanced to the third-place bout with a 5-1 decision over against Clarion's Greg Bulsak in the consolation semifinals.
Also wrestling on Saturday for Stanford were 20th-ranked Gabriel Townsell and sophomore Dominick Mandarino. Townsell fell 11-7 to No. 15 Devin Schroder of Purdue at 125 pounds, while Mandarino came up short in a 10-7 loss to third-ranked Tyler Berger of Nebraska.
As a team, Stanford tied for 22nd in the tournament with Oklahoma with 39 points.
Up next, Stanford will take on No. 13 Northwestern in San Luis Obispo, California on Monday, Dec. 17 to close out 2018.
