Pair is Scholar All-Region

STANFORD, Calif. – Amir Bashti and Adam Mosharrafa were named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region team on Monday. They are two of only three Pac-12 representatives on the 11-member team.

An All-Pac-12 first team pick as a senior, Bashti finished sixth in the league in scoring and fifth in points with a career-high seven goals and six assists this season. The senior twice earned Pac-12 Player of the Week awards following a brace against Delaware on Sept. 16 and a two-goal, two-assist weekend to begin conference action in late September against San Diego State and UCLA. Bashti played in 88 matches during his career, scored 19 goals and had 13 assists.

Bashti, who boasts a 3.45 cumulative GPA as a science, technology and society major, was also voted CoSIDA Academic All-District last month.

A computer science major with a 3.52 GPA, Mosharrafa became the third Stanford men's soccer played to be named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year when he was selected for the award in mid-November. The redshirt senior, also a four-time Pac-12 all-academic honoree, appeared in every one of Stanford's 67 matches the past three seasons and made 66 starts.

Mosharrafa played right back during the Cardinal's 2016 national championship campaign when its defense finished fourth in the country with a 0.56 goals against average. Last season with Mosharrafa at center back, Stanford's 0.382 goals against average set school and conference records and was second nationally. This fall, the Cardinal's 0.625 goals against average was eighth.

With Mosharrafa in the starting lineup, the Cardinal posted 0.50 goals against average with 41 shutouts and won its last two national championships without allowing a goal throughout either tournament, eventually putting together an NCAA-record postseason shutout streak of 1,428:09.

Stanford has had multiple scholar all-west region honorees each of the past five seasons.
