Second Time for Traxler

STANFORD, Calif. – Redshirt sophomore Nathan Traxler has been named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced today.

In a match that went the distance, Traxler came out on top, 7-6, over No. 13 Eric Schultz of Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday. He finished with five seconds of riding time to win by criteria. The St. Charles, Illinois, native, trailed 4-1 late in the second period, but was able to score a takedown to cut Shultz's lead to one going into the third, where he notched the escape to tie it and force overtime.

Stanford wrapped up its dual season with a 9-4 record, while Traxler was 12-1 in duals. At 26-5 overall, Traxler has now defeated six ranked opponents this season.

It is the second career weekly honor for Traxler, who also took home the honor on Jan. 9, and the eighth for the Cardinal since the award began in 2016.

Up next, Stanford will travel to Tempe, Arizona for the Pac-12 Championships, held March 9 at Wells Fargo Arena.
