STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will be the No. 10 seed and face No. 7 seed UCLA Wednesday (March 13) at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The winner of the Stanford-UCLA matchup will face No. 2 seed Arizona State in the quarterfinals Thursday at 6 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
Stanford completed the regular season 8-10 in Pac-12 play and tied with Arizona and USC for eighth place in the standings. USC captured the No.8 seed, Arizona the No. 9 seed and Stanford the No. 10 seed based on a three-team tiebreaker.
Stanford and UCLA split the regular-season series, with each team winning at home. The Cardinal defeated the Bruins, 104-80, Feb. 16 at Maples Pavilion in the most recent matchup.
Stanford is 1-3 against UCLA in four previous games against the Bruins in the Pac-12 Tournament. The Cardinal recorded its lone win against the UCLA in the 1989 tournament.
Stanford has won the conference tournament title once, defeating Washington (77-66) on March 13, 2004. The Cardinal owns a 17-20 overall record in the conference tournament. In 21 previous conference tournaments, Stanford has never been the No. 10 seed.
The Pac-12 Tournament will begin Wednesday with four games at T-Mobile Arena. The Cardinal will be the first game of the night session on Wednesday. Pac-12 Networks will have live coverage of all four games on Wednesday. The Pac-12 Championship game is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
