STANFORD, Calif. - No. 5 Stanford notched its sixth shutout of the season, breezing past Arizona 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal (10-1, 3-0 Pac-12) wrapped up the shutout in less than three hours, easily securing the doubles point before dominating singles play.
Stanford has won 30 straight regular-season conference matches dating back to March 5, 2016, and remained unbeaten in seven contests at home this season.
Leading 1-0, the Cardinal overwhelmed the Wildcats (8-7, 0-4 Pac-12) in singles.
Emma Higuchi put Stanford in front 2-0 following a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot. For her career, Higuchi has won 41 individual sets by a score of 6-0 and 11 matches by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Michaela Gordon looked sharp for the second straight day at the No. 2 spot, prevailing 6-1, 6-1 to extend the Cardinal's lead to 3-0.
Caroline Lampl provided the clincher with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court three. Lampl is riding an 11-match winning streak, with her most recent loss coming back on Jan. 18.
Emily Arbuthnott and Janice Shin surrendered only seven games combined in their straight-set victories while Melissa Lord capped the shutout with a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win at the No. 1 position.
The Cardinal has won 55 of its last 58 contests at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford will play its final two nonconference matches next weekend, hosting Hawai'i (March 24) and UC Davis (March 25).
