Pac-12 Challenge Day One

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Stanford won two of its six races on day one of the Pac-12 Challenge, hosted at the team's home course at Redwood Shores.

Stanford began the day with head-to-head races against Oregon State in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and third varsity eight.

The Cardinal's first varsity eight secured the team's first win, registering a time of 5:52.18 to Oregon State's 5:56.15. The team was rewarded the Mack Babbit Sr. Trophy for its victory.

Stanford then earned its second win of the day, with the third varsity eight outpacing Oregon State's boat by seven seconds.

In the afternoon, Stanford's same three varsity eight boats competed against Washington. Stanford's first varsity eight was five seats down at the 750 mark but could not stay with the Huskies over the last 1250 meters. Washington got the best of the Cardinal in the second and third varsity eights as well.

Stanford returns to Redwood Shores on Sunday morning for day two of the Pac-12 Challenge.
