Road Trip Starts With Shutout

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - No. 18 Stanford received goals from five different players on the way to a 6-0 victory over Brown on Tuesday afternoon.

Corinne Zanolli, who was named America East Offensive Player of the Week earlier this morning, paced the Cardinal with two goals and ripped off a team-best four shot attempts.

Playing the first game of a four-match, six-day road trip, Stanford (3-2, 0-0 America East) relied on its efficiency and scored three goals before and after halftime. Stanford and Brown were even in shots (17-17) and penalty corners (5-5), but the Cardinal managed to convert its chances.

Sarah Johnson gave the Cardinal a 1-0 lead at the 10:01 mark of the first quarter. Emma Alderton, Phoebe Crosthwaite and Molly Redgrove all scored for the first time this season while Zanolli increased her goal total to eight.

Brown (1-2, 0-0 Ivy League) remained within striking distance thanks to Dani van Rootselaar's game-high seven shots.

Kelsey Bing made six saves over the first three quarters before Hannah Santos kept the shutout in tact for the final 15 minutes.

Stanford next travels to Harvard on Thursday, Sept. 12, for a 1 p.m. PT contest.
