STANFORD, Calif. - No. 21 Stanford used a dominant offensive attack to power past Quinnipiac 4-1 on Tuesday morning at the Varsity Turf, notching its first win of the season.
Stanford (1-2, 0-0 America East) owned advantages in shots (22-7) and penalty corners (13-2), dictating tempo from the start and holding a noticeable edge in possession.
The Cardinal received goals from four different players, including Corinne Zanolli's fourth of the season in the 18th minute. Zanolli fired off a game-high nine shot attempts.
Rose Winter added her third goal in three games while Sarah Johnson and Frances Carstens found the cage for the first time in 2019.
Stanford moved in front 3-0 before Quinnipiac (0-3) accounted for its only score in the 28th minute.
The Cardinal had opened the season with hard-fought losses against top-15 competition, falling 4-3 in a penalty shootout to No. 15 Northwestern and 3-2 to No. 4 Connecticut two days later.
Kelsey Bing made four saves in goal and has 27 through three games.
Stanford resumes its four-game, eight-day stretch on Friday, hosting No. 7 Michigan at 7 p.m.
