STANFORD, Calif. – Home at last and inspired by a crowd of more than 2,500, No. 26 Stanford posted a season-high 196.250 and received several standout showings against No. 3 UCLA on Monday night at Maples Pavilion.
The Bruins, led by Olympic gold medalists Kyla Ross and Madison Kocian, didn't disappoint, tallying 197.575.
"I thought what we did really well was end the meet strong," said Stanford head coach Tabitha Yim. "It was nice to see us be aggressive. You could see it start to come together on all events with some real highlight performances on bars. Now, we just need to do it all together."
The Cardinal collected 9.850's from junior Taylor Lawson on bars and beam, both career-highs, a season-best 9.825 on beam by sophomore Wesley Stephenson, and career-high tying 9.900 on beam from junior Kyla Bryant.
Chloe Widner continued her strong rookie campaign by matching season-highs of 9.875 on beam and 9.800 on floor.
Bryant had her best meet of the season and finished second in all-around at 39.400, not far off her career-high of 39.525.
"I think we're moving in the right direction," Yim said. "It's exciting to see the fire and dedication they have been putting into practice and it's finally showing."
On Sunday, Stanford travels to Oregon State for a 1 p.m. match that will televised by Pac-12 Networks. Live scoring is available at #GoStanford.com.
