HONOLULU – Action continued at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic on Sunday, where No. 19 Stanford faced No. 1 UCLA in the Semifinal and No. 5 Hawai'i in the Consolation game.
The Cardinal was 0-5 against No. 1 UCLA in the Semifinal 2 game, despite a very close match in which Sunny Villapando and Charlie Ekstrom forced a third set.
In the Consolation game against No. 5 Hawai'i, the Cardinal fought hard, with Maddi Kriz and Tori Ashkinos taking their match to the third set, but ultimately lost to Hawai'i in all five matches.
Ashkinos was also honored by the Tournament with the Aloha Spirit Award.
Stanford (0-5) is back in action next weekend when it hosts St. Mary's and No. 20 Arizona State on Saturday.
