TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 25 Stanford defeated Arizona State 17-6, the Cardinal's largest margin of victory this season. Seven different student-athletes scored for Stanford today.

"I'm really proud of what our team accomplished today less than 48 hours after the USC battle. We played tough, confident, Stanford Lacrosse against a well-coached Arizona State team," said head coach Danielle Spencer.

Katherine Gjertsen led the Cardinal with four goals, followed by hat tricks for Jay Browne and Mikaela Watson. Ali Baiocco and Daniella McMahon each scored twice, while Caitlin Chicoski, Jacie Lemos and Galen Lew scored one each. Genesis Lucero led the team with nine draw controls. Goalkeepers Trudie Grattan (4) and Kara Rahaim (1) combined to total five saves.

The Cardinal held the advantage in shots (33-16), ground balls (22-15), draw controls (16-8), and free-position shots (6-2).

Arizona State scored first, before Stanford went on a run of 12 straight goals: Lemos, Watson, Chicoski, Baiocco, McMahon, Browne, Gjertsen, Watson, Browne, Lew, Watson, Baiocco. Stanford led 12-1 heading into the half.

The Sun Devils scored in under a minute after the opening draw control of the second half, but Browne and Gjertsen added to Stanford's lead to make it 14-2. Arizona State added another, then McMahon scored her second of the day and Gjertsen scored her third and fourth goals of the match.

Arizona State scored three at the end of the game to bring the final score to 17-6.

Stanford (3-4, 1-1 Pac-12) returns to The Farm on Friday, March 13 at 3 p.m. to host Oregon.
