Women's Swimming & Diving

Standout Class

STANFORD, Calif. – Three-time defending NCAA champion Stanford will welcome seven impressive standouts to The Farm in 2021-22, as announced on Wednesday by Paul A. Violich Director of Women's Swimming Greg Meehan, associate head coach Tracy Slusser and head diving coach Patrick Jeffrey.

The Cardinal's incoming class consists of Lauren Burch (The Woodlands, Texas), Torri Huske (Arlington, Va.), Meghan Lynch (Greenwich, Ct.), Aurora Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa), Anna Shaw (TBD), Sam Tadder (TBD) and Amy Tang (Bellevue, Wash.)

Stanford boasts three of the top eight swimmers ranked SwimSwam's top-20 for the Class of 2021, with Huske ranking No. 2, Tang checking in at No. 4 and Tadder featured at No. 8.

"Today is a great day for Stanford women's swimming and diving," said Meehan, who enters his ninth season while having guided the Cardinal to NCAA titles in 2017-19. "These seven young women of the Class of 2021 bring tremendous success with them on the boards and in the pool and their impact will be immediately felt next fall. More importantly, they are truly representative of Stanford student-athletes: great young people who are hardworking, passionate about their academics, versatile in sport and humble in life. Patrick, Tracy and I can't wait to see what their legacy will be."

Coach Meehan says »"We love Torri's versatility, which is one of the best we've ever seen coming out of high school. Not only will Torri be a top performer in her individual events, but her ability to impact our relays in any number of strokes might be her greatest strength."

"It's been incredible to watch Amy's trajectory in her sprint events over the past 15 months and knowing her background gets us really excited about what's ahead. Amy is another one who will walk in the door and make our team better right away."

"Sam is another all-around great swimmer. Her range from the 400 IM to mid-distance freestyle to the mile is tremendous and gives our team flexibility in event lineups from dual meets to the NCAA Championships. It's fun to coach athletes with Sam's versatility, not knowing exactly which events she'll compete in."

"Tracy and I are really excited about Meghan, Aurora and Anna. While they swim different events, they are coming from similar backgrounds and will be in a position to adapt quickly and impact our team next year. They are the perfect additions to round out the class."
Coach Jeffrey says »"Lauren will bring an increased amount of depth to our already talented diving group. Lauren will be coming from a program that teaches very sound basic skills and she has been developed with a rock solid foundation. I can't stress how valuable this is for high-level performance. Lauren is also a high-energy athlete who will bring a freshness and positive attitude to our environment. I don't think I've ever seen her without a smile on her face! I am very excited to get started with Lauren next fall."
