STANFORD, Calif. - The Pac-12 CEO Group announced today the Conference-only football schedule, along with updates for men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's cross country and women's cross country.
Practice policies and competition in all cases are subject to the approval of public health authorities and medical advice.
Return-to-competition plans for each of these sports were determined following extensive consultation with the Pac-12's Medical Advisory Committee.
Football
Stanford will open its season at Washington on Saturday, Sept. 26 (normally week four). Each conference school will play five home and five road games, with the flexibility if necessary to commence on a later date if the situation warrants.
Games that are unable to be played on their scheduled date can be made up in their bye weeks or in Week 12 (Dec. 12), with the Pac-12 Football Championship Game, now slated for Dec. 18 or 19 and to be hosted at a campus site.
Despite coming off an injury-plagued 4-8 season in which 21 true freshmen saw action, Stanford finished the decade with a 98-35 record, representing the 10th-most wins in college football during that stretch and most victories (by 25) of any decade in school history.
Football Schedule Announcement
Meanwhile, the Pac-12 CEO Group also approved Conference-only scheduling plans for men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's cross country and women's cross country, with competition to start no earlier than the weekend of Sept. 26. The first permissible date of practice for these Conference-sponsored sports will be Aug. 15. In all cases, the Conference-only schedules to be developed will be designed to support health and safety, and maximize flexibility.
Men's Soccer
Stanford finished 14-3-5 overall in 2019, placing second in the Pac-12 regular season with a 6-2-2 mark while advancing to the NCAA College Cup for the seventh time overall and fourth in the last five years.
Women's Soccer
Producing its most prolific offensive season in school history with 102 goals, Stanford finished 24-1 overall and 11-0 in the Pac-12 on the way to capturing its third NCAA title, defeating North Carolina in a penalty kick shootout.
Women's Volleyball
Repeating as NCAA champions after sweeping Wisconsin in the national final, Stanford claimed its third national championship in four years and finished 30-4 overall while winning the Pac-12 for a third straight season.
Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
The women's team captured its first conference championship since 2010 and finished third at NCAA Championships. The men's team placed sixth at NCAA Championships, resulting in the Cardinal being the nation's only program to have both teams finish among the top six for the past four years.
