STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford defeated Santa Clara 6-1 in its season opener on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal (1-0) remained perfect in 13 all-time meetings against the Broncos (2-3).
Leading 1-0 after claiming the doubles point, Stanford rattled off a series of straight-set victories before Santa Clara avoided the shutout in the afternoon's final match.
Aryan Chaudhary and Arthur Fery were victorious in their collegiate debuts while Timothy Sah's 6-1, 6-3 decision on court three provided the clincher.
Stanford returns to action on Wednesday, March 17, hosting Saint Mary's at 2 p.m.
