EUGENE, Ore. – For the second consecutive game, No. 17 Stanford came-from-behind to earn the win, this time defeating Oregon, 17-13, Monday at Pape Field. The Cardinal has now won 11 straight against the Ducks.
Senior Ali Baiocco led Stanford with seven points on five goals and two assists, while seniors Galen Lew and Katherine Gjertsen each turned in a hat trick to go with a pair of assists for five points apiece.
The Cardinal improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the Pac-12, while Oregon dropped to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Stanford won the draw control battle, 22-10, and out shot the Ducks 38-24.
Sixth-year Genesis Lucero won 13 of Stanford's 22 draw controls – the second-most in a single game in program history.
Stanford led 6-5 at halftime, but the Ducks came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. Oregon scored five straight to take a 10-6 lead at the 22:25 mark in the second.
Baiocco went to work, scoring the first of four straight goals by the Cardinal to tie it at 10-10. The Ducks pulled ahead again, 13-11, momentarily, before Stanford ripped off six straight goals to end the game and complete the comeback.
Baiocco scored three of the final six goals for Stanford, while Gjerten registered two and Lew the third.
Sophomore Jay Browne tallied three points, scoring a goal and assisting late in the game on goals by Baiocco and Gjertsen. Freshman Ailish Kelly finished with two goals, while Anna Griffith, Jacie Lemos and Daniella McMahon each score one of their own.
Senior Trudie Grattan picked up the win in goal, registering four saves and allowing just five goals in the first half. Sophomore Kara Rahaim took over duties in the second half and registered one save.
Oregon midfielder Anna Hilcoff scored a game-high six goals to lead the Ducks. Goalkeeper Alle Dunbar finished with eight saves.
Stanford returns to The Farm on Friday to play host to rival California at 4 p.m. in Stanford Stadium.
