SAN FRANCISCO – Stanford softball landed five players on the Pac-12's all-conference teams, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Alana Vawter led the way for the Cardinal, landing on both the first team and the all-freshmen team. Taylor Gindlesperger was named to the second team, while both Teaghan Cowles and Emily Young landed on the conference's third team. Catcher Montana Dixon was named to the all-defensive team.
Vawter, Gindlesperger and Dixon earned All Pac-12 honors for the first time in their careers. Cowles and Young were honored for the second time in their careers, as both landed on the all-conference teams in 2019.
Alana Vawter- Pitcher
First Team, All-Freshmen Team
- 21-9 on the season with a 1.21 ERA.
- First Stanford pitcher with 20 victories in a season since 2014 (Madi Schreyer).
- One of five Power-5 pitchers in the country with 20 victories and a 1.23 or lower ERA this season.
- The first Stanford player to earn first-team honors since 2015.
- First all-conference honors of her career.
Taylor Gindlesperger- Outfielder
Second Team
- Leads the Cardinal with a .335/.388/.537 slash line, and with an OPS of .925.
- Has 17 extra-base hits on the year, with five doubles, eight triples and four homes runs, while adding 10 stolen bases.
- Her eight triples leads the Pac-12, is tied for second in the nation, and is tied for the single-season school record.
- Ranks in the top 15 in the conference in four categories.
- Stanford's lone starter in center field.
- First all-conference honors of her career.
Teaghan Cowles- Utility
Third Team
- Has a .286/.388/.325 slash line, scoring 35 runs and working 24 walks.
- Her 16 stolen bases, on 17 attempts, is tied for third in the Pac-12.
- Had on-base and hitting streaks of 18 and 13 games, respectively, during the season.
- Ranks in the top 15 in the conference in three categories.
- Stanford's lone starter in right field.
- Also earned all-conference honors in 2019, landing on the second team.
Emily Young- Utility
Third Team
- Has a .322/.415/.459 slash line and is third on the team with an OPS of .874.
- One of three players in the Pac-12 with 10 doubles and nine stolen bases on the year.
- Her 11 doubles rank tied for sixth in the conference.
- Stanford's lone starter at shortstop.
- Also earned all-conference honors in 2019, landing on the third, and all-freshmen teams.
Montana Dixon- Catcher/Infielder
Defensive Team
- Leads the conference with 14 runners caught stealing.
- Her .467 average is second among catchers in the conference.
- Has led the Cardinal defense to limit opponents to 2.89 runs per game this season.
- Mentored a trio of freshmen pitchers from behind the dish, with those three throwing 85-percent of Stanford's innings.
- Has started 48 games on the season, making 50 total appearances – all at catcher.
- First time landing on one of the all-conference teams.
