Women Take Fifth at Nationals

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Competing in the first of is three national championships, Stanford women's sailing took fifth place at the ICSA Women's National Championship. The regatta was held May 19-20 on the campus of Navy.
 
The fifth-place finish is the sixth top-five result in program history, and the best since Stanford ended in fifth in 2017. Michelle Lahrkamp and Sammy Pickell sailed in the A-boat, while Abigail Tindall crewed every race for the B-boat. Skipper duties were shared between Stephanie Houck and Hannah Freeman alongside Tindall.
 
Stanford was in fourth after day one, putting up 140 combined points. The duo of Houck and Tindall scored two race wins, coming in the seventh and 10th races.
 
Lahrkamp and Pickell totaled 99 points as a duo, which was third best among the A-boats in the event, posting six top-fives and 13 top-10s.
 
Stanford was the highest-finishing school from the PCCSC, and trailed Charleston, Tulane, Boston College and Brown in the final table.
