FORT WORTH, Texas – Harrison Ingram will represent the United States at the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup in Latvia this summer, as announced by USA Basketball on Thursday. He will be coached at the event by Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball Jerod Haase, who is serving as an assistant coach.
Ingram is one of six incoming freshmen around the country to make the roster, and he becomes the fifth Stanford player to appear in the event for the United States. Tim Young went to Greece in 1995, Casey Jacobsen traveled to Portugal in 1999 and Anthony Brown suited up in Latvia in 2011. Ziaire Williams played for the USA between his junior and senior high school years at the 2019 event in Greece.
The USA Men's U19 World Cup training camp began June 20 with 26 athletes, 17 finalists were named on June 21, and the official team was selected following 10 training sessions held at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. The team will continue training on the TCU campus through Monday, June 28, then travel to Riga, Latvia for the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup that will be played July 3-11.
Ingram joins Stanford as a five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American, ranked as the consensus No. 16 recruit nationally and the top-ranked signee from the state of Texas. He became the ninth recruit in program history to earn a spot on the McDonald's All-American game roster, while the Cardinal has a participant for the second-straight year - the first time in program history to accomplish the feat in back-to-back years.
The 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup runs from July 3-11 in Riga and Daugavpils, Latvia. The United States will open play against Turkey on July 3, followed by Mali on July 4 and close preliminary action against Australia on July 6.
