Bounced Back at Binghamton

VESTAL, N.Y. – Winning seven of 10 bouts, No. 17 Stanford defeated Binghamton, 25-13, Sunday, at the Events Center in Vestal, New York.

The Cardinal (1-2) secured its first dual win of the season, and the first for The Matt Gentry Head Coach Rob Koll with Stanford. Binghamton drops to 1-3 on the season.

Logan Ashton improved to 4-1 on the year, defeating Nick Curley, 11-4, at 125 pounds. The redshirt sophomore registered three takedowns in the win and is now 2-1 in duals this season.

Junior Jackson DiSario, who is ranked No. 32 at 133 pounds, edged Anthony Sobotker, 1-0. There was no score after the first and Sobotker chose down to start the second. DiSario then rode out Sobotker in the second and took top to begin the third, where he rode out the Bearcat again to finish with 4:00 of riding time in the win. DiSario moves to 5-2 on the season.

Sophomore Jason Miranda gave the Cardinal a 9-0 lead in the dual with a 9-3 decision over Michael Zarif at 141 pounds. Scoreless after the first, Miranda chose down to start the second. After a quick escape, he scored a takedown for a 3-0 lead. Zarif then escaped but gave up a stalling point to trail 4-1.Miranda notched another takedown and tallied two near fall points before another escape by Zarif. Leading 8-2, Miranda gave up another escape in the third but was awarded another stalling point to close out the match. He is now 4-3 on the season.

At 149 pounds, No. 8 Jaden Abas registered his third fall of the season, getting the pin in 5:34 over Nick Lombard. The redshirt sophomore was leading 9-2 before turning Lombard for the fall. Abas improves to 6-1 on the year.

Sophomore Charlie Darracott pushed the Stanford dual lead to 18-0 with a 6-3 decision over Logan Gumble at 157 pounds. Scoreless after one, Darracott tallied an early escape to start the second. He led 3-2 heading into the final period. Darracott rode Gumble to start the third and lock in the riding time point before Gumble managed to escape. Darracott scored a final takedown as time expired. He is now 5-2 on the season.

The Bearcats received a forfeit at 165 pounds to cut the dual score to 18-6. Redshirt junior Tyler Eischens, who is ranked No. 30 at 174 pounds, came from behind for an 8-6 decision over Brevin Cassella. Cassella scored a takedown in the opening period and led 2-1 after an Eischens escape. Eischens scored a takedown, but Brevin secured a reversal to lead 4-3 after one. Eischens went down to start the second and scored a reversal of his own and then rode out Brevin for the remainder of the period. Brevin chose neutral to start the third and Eischens scored his second takedown of the match before giving up another reversal, but had riding time locked in. He improves to 5-2 on the year.

Binghamton earned a major decision at 184 pounds and a decision at 197 pounds to cut the Cardinal lead to 21-13. Junior heavyweight Seamus O'Malley closed out the scoring for Stanford with a dominating 9-0 major decision over Collin Burns. O'Malley scored takedowns in the first and second periods while locking in the riding time point. He went down to start the third and registered a reversal before being awarded a pair of stalling points to give him the major. He moves to 5-1 on the year.
