#StanfordNFL Week 14: Setting the Curve

Highlights

Mills on a Mission

Quarterback Davis Mills was named the Texans' starter for the rest of the year and completed 33-of-49 for 331 yards and a touchdown. He opened the game by setting a franchise record with 14 straight completions -- the most by a rookie quarterback in the last 20 years. Among rookie quarterbacks this season, Mills ranks second in passer rating (81.8), completion percentage (65.8%) and touchdown to interception ratio (8:8).

Tight End U Back at it Again

Stanford's tight ends continued to put on a show in Week 14, led by Zach Ertz and Austin Hooper.

  • Tight end Zach Ertz started and made five catches for 42 yards in a Monday Night Football loss to the Rams.
  • Tight end Austin Hooper had a touchdown, catching five passes for 30 yards in a 24-22 Browns' win over the Ravens. He was a game captain for Cleveland and was the only offensive player to play all 65 snaps in the win. Hooper was placed on COVID reserve on Tuesday and is expected to miss Saturday's game against the Raiders.

Welcome Back, Sherman

Richard Sherman returned from IR and had an interception in a 33-27 overtime win against Buffalo. The interception was Sherman's 37th of his career, the most in the NFL among active players.

The Growth Continues

Harrison Phillips started and made six tackles, a tackle for loss and two QB hurries in helping the Bills to a wild comeback to force overtime at Tampa Bay, a game which the Buccaneers eventually won, 33-27. Phillips was the highest-graded Bills defender by PFF, and he recorded a game-high 81.3 run defense grade.
