ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 2 Stanford opened its season with a pair of convincing victories on Saturday at the Michigan Invitational, cruising past No. 22 Marist 22-5 and No. 6 Michigan 14-5.
The Cardinal (2-0) was balanced on offense and stingy on defense, receiving contributions across the board.
Returning to the pool for the first time since 2019, the All-American trio of Aria Fischer, Makenzie Fischer and Ryann Neushul combined to score 18 of Stanford's 36 goals on the day. Makenzie Fischer finished with five goals in both games.
Meanwhile, 10 other players scored at least one goal over the two-game stretch while Maya Avital picked up a pair of wins in goal.
Stanford concludes tournament play on Sunday, squaring off against LIU (5 a.m. PT) and Salem University (2 p.m. PT).

Makenzie Fischer scored five goals in her first action since 2019 while Sophie Wallace added a career-high five goals as Stanford routed Marist 22-5.
The Cardinal was efficient offensively, scoring 22 goals off 36 shot attempts for a 61.1 percentage, and receiving goals from 11 different players.
Ryann Neushul added three scores for the fifth hat trick of her career as Stanford built a 14-2 halftime lead and never looked back.
Maya Avital played the first 19 minutes in goal and made six saves before Megan Peterson covered the final 13 minutes.

Hannah Constandse and Lexi Rowell both found the cage, giving Stanford eight different goal scorers in the game and 13 overall for the day.
Leading 9-2 at halftime, the Cardinal scored twice in the third period before both teams found the cage three times in the final stanza.
